• In 1946 Only 31 foreign commercial vehicles of all types were imported into Britain. By 1956 this had reached an annual figure of only 791, by 1966 it had grown to 2683 and by last year had leapt to 18,57i,
These figures are given in a new publication, Motor Vehicles, in the British Industry Today series produced for HMSO. It costs 32p net.
Far outstripping the figures quoted above, British commercial vehicle exports rose from 47,714 in 1946 to no fewer than 174,746 in 1971.

• Aberdeen-based hauliers J. G. Barrack are moving into the oil industry servicing field with a new company, Barrack Base Services; it will be responsible for handling the whole range of special transportation work required by a continuously expanding North Sea oil industry based on Aberdeen.
