Ait is believed that current freight rates for
scrap tyres by road and sea would make this idea uneconomic. The president of the Waste Rubber and Plastics Merchants Association of Great Britain suggested recently that scrap merchants were now thinking of cutting up scrap tyres to economize in space when shipping. He believed the time was ripe for the development of suitable machinery to help merchants dispose of scrap tyre accumulations.
So it would appear that mobile tyre cutting machinery must be developed before road hauliers can play their part in removing pyramids of scrap tyres to processing plants or the docks.
