DESIGNED for the 20ft ISO container, this new all-steel short skeletal by M and G Trailers, High Street, Lye, Worcs., has a peripheral frame which protects the sides of the container.

It is fitted with Rubery Owen lightweight M series suspension with single leaf taper spring; 20,000 series axle with 7ft wide S cam brakes; three-line air braking; all lighting equipment; and Michelin X tubeless tyres.

Intertruck two-speed landing gear is fitted with a gearbox modified by M and G to retract at high speed in top gear and lift the loaded trailer in low gear, with gear changing by push-pull captive handle.

The Hope anti-jack-knife device is fitted and curved panels are set inside the main frame to keep the underside of the container clean. The trailer weighs 2 tons 12 cwt. 2 qrs. and has a wheelbase designed to give a g.c.w. of 28 tons when coupled to a 9 ft 6 in wheelbase tractive unit. This gives container and contents a maximum weight of 20 tons (assuming a tractive unit weight of 5 tons 7cwt.
