AFLEET of air-conditioned ambulances on 4 x 4 chassis built by Douglas Equipment, Ltd., has been supplied to the Persian Army by Sparshatts (Metal Bodies), Ltd. Fully insulated, the vehicles employ Normalair air conditioning, operated by a Coventry Victor petrol engine, and housed in a special compartment over the cab.

An interior temperature of 75° F. can be maintained in an ambient temperature 450 or more higher. Provision is made for four stretcher cases and 10 sitting cases, but the accommodation can be varied to allow either eight stretchers or 20 sitting patients. All equipment such as mattresses, blankets, and a certain amount of air rescue material, is stowed internally.

Airfield warning lights, a siren, Red Cross light and searchlight are also provided, together with sliding and folding steps.
