Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NEW double-deck bus, designated

the PD2/12, will be shown by Leyland Motors. Ltd., at Earls Court. Conforming to the revised legal maximum overall dimensions of 27-ft. length and 8-ft. width, it is similar in chassis design to others of the PM series, but has a 16-ft. 5-in, wheelbase, which is 2 ins, longer than in former models. The chassis overhang has been increased by 6 ins.

This change in dimensions enables the body to be made 8 ins, longer and with the inclusion of double bumper bars at the rear, the overall length is 26 ft. II ins. The Leyland-built Hybridge body accommodates 28 passengers in the lower saloon, where there is now 2 ft. 31 ins, between seat backs, and 32 in the upper saloon, where a seat spacing of 2 ft. 4i ins, is used.

Formerly, the Leyland Hybridge body had a landing half-way up the staircase, but the new body has a continuous staircase. This provides added space on the platform. •

Aluminium-alloy extrusions are used in place of all horizontal wooden battens and this. together with other weight-saving measures, has reduced the weight of the complete bus to under 7 tons 15 cwt.
