Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

II May I tell your readers a true story of a fleet engineer who was an avid believer in Gardner engines, until a mere lorry driver converted him to Perkin's Eagle RR engines.

Over a period of eighteen months we had many heated arguments on which was the best engine — Gardner or RR. Well, to my surprise, the fleet engineer said to me one morning: "We have a new Leyland coming and it has a 265L RR engine" — and off he went mumbling something like: "If I get egg on my face with this engine, I will get a kick where it hurts."

Well, three years on and the RR 265 has been completely trouble-free, and another two units with RR 800, series 300L1 will soon be in service.

Mr Woods (Fleet Engineer, Gilbraith Tankers, Dear Sir, CM, April 4) is a man I know I could get on with. I most certainly would agree that the RR Eagle is the engine that never lets you down.
