THE MARKET for new vans and lorries continued to plunge las month, with sales down 30 per cent on those for March 198( According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, sale of all categories fell from 28,445 last year to 19,782, and only 11 top-weight artics were registered.

Leyland Vehicles' truck and a tic sales fell from 1,060 to 66 and Austin Morris suffered drop in Sherpa sales from 1,5 to 635 and Marina and Mini vi sales fell from 2,519 to 1,985.

In the truck and artic sect( DAF sales fell by around 50 p cent to 106, ERF's from 271 only 92, Foden from 165 to Bedford from 912 to 581, IVE( from 318 to 153, Mercedes frc 308 to 214, and Volvo from 1,0 to 555.
