Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Engine oil can be checked and replenished, on late Commandos, through a flap behind the gear lever, while the clutch fluid reservoir is under a small hatch on the dashboard. The plastics radiator header tank is mounted behind the cab and is easily accessible.

For any other maintenance to engine and ancillaries the cab must be tilted — a simple one-man process needing only one interior and one exterior cab lock to be released. The cab is supported in the tilted position by a stay. Once the cab is tilted, accessibility is reasonably good but, although not recommended in the owner's handbook, accessibility would be further improved if the sound-deadening panels on each side of the chassis were removed.

Recommended servicing schedules are divided into four: Service A. every 200 hours or 5,000 miles: Service B, 400 hours (10,000 miles): Service C, 1,000 hours (25,000 miles); and Service D, 2,000 hours (50,000 miles).

The engine oil and filter (paper element type) should be replaced every 5,000 miles, while valve clearances should be checked every 50,000 miles. All lubrication points (more than 30 grease nipples) should be greased at the 5,000 mile service.

The air-sensing tank is fitted with an automatic drain valve, making at least one normal daily check unnecessary.
