Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

more than a third of total spending in London's shops, according to a survey by London Regional Transport.

It finds that 41% of shoppers travel by public transport — mainly buses — and their spending accounts for 36% of shop's takings.

LRT's director of planning, David Bayliss, has welcomed the findings of the research, which was carried out in Bromley, East Ham and Kensington. Money spent by public transport users is crucial to the prosperity of shopping centres and, says Bayliss, the need for good bus access should be taken into account when planning shopping areas.
