JOHN MACDIARM1D, of Skl has started a refrigerated trar port haulage business with eye-catching truck which h been covering the roads to a from the isles during the pi few weeks.
The business, "Out of 1 Blue", caters for rapid deliv( of fish and shellfish from 1 West Highlands and Islands.
Operating from a base at k leakin, his home village, Mr Mi. Diarmid (26), identified a marl for temperature-controili transport and researched it 1 three months at Glasgow U versity on a new enterprise pi gramme. He had previous completed a one-year course transport management at a technical college in Blackpool.
He had worked in the fish fai business and it was h knowledge of the needs of t expanding trade around t north-west coast and islan that gave him the idea for t venture.
Deliveries to markets for fi farms and others, includi. shellfish processors who ha had transport problems, meant trips as far as the south England.
"I offer a service from t north to the south of Englar handling most kinds of froz and chilled goods. I am taki delivery of a second lorry a have hired a driver," he said.
