THE BURDENS of road building delays continue to be imposed upon long-distance drivers, and the latest crop from the Department of Transport affects trunk and motorway traffic.
Lane closures at weekends will affect a mile of the Al (M) between Havannah Interchange and Blackfell, Tyne and Wear for the next year, while a dual-carriageway bridge is built.
A 200m section of the A51 at High Street, Tarvin, near Chester, will be closed from 6am to 6pm tomorrow (Sunday) for resurfacing. A diversion is signposted.
The service area at Toddington on the M1 is closed on the southbound side at present, and will be closed on both sides from September 26 until October 17. This is because of resurfacing work and drivers should use Scratchwood or Newport Pagnell services instead.
Resurfacing work on the eastern approach to the Severn Bridge on the M4 will last until the end of next month. The slip roads at junction 21 will be closed at times this and next weekend.
A contraflow system will apply on the main carriageway from October 3, while some mid-week and overnight work will be carried out on the structure of the bridge itself.
