MERSEYSIDE Transport are to carry out a survey of families in the Rainford, Rainford Junction and Crank areas to find out what their travelling habits are.

The survey will be carried out with interviews of two families in five carried out at home. Divisional manager for Merseyside, Mr Ken Hannis said that the survey will tell them exactly what the public wants from transport systems.

Starved estates

SHEFFIELD is to have more new bus services introduced to serve the south west and north east of the city where new housing estates have been starved of transport.

The city has been expanding fast and the new services will be relieving areas where there is growing pressure on the present services. They include new routes and more buses on present routes in the South Yorks PTE programme.

NT abroad

NATIONAL Travel is to run holidays in America in association with Jetsave. The holiday — based in Los Angeles — costs £299 and will include a coach from Victoria to Gatwick airport, a flight to Los Angeles and coach to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

Other features of the holiday include tours of the film studios and other optional tours in California and a farewell dinner. The tours leave on March 11 and 25.

COACH services calling at Bournemouth will be using the temporary Holdenhurst Road coach station following a fire which destroyed the main bus and coach station in July.

The future of terminal facilities at Bournemouth is being reviewed following the fire, and National Travel says that the temporary arrngements will be for the winter only.
