Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

on roads that have been wet for the first time in months (CM August 6) may have come true this week.

Police and scientists are looking at the possibility that a tanker which crashed in the Bedforshire village of Westoning had skidded on a greasy road before the impact and explosion which ripped the village apart.

A spokesman for Texaco — owners of the 6,000-gallon compartment tanked Guy J Big Four — said that there was so far no decision on prosecution of the driver, Mr John Greener.

Police have interviewed Mr Greener but the final decision on prosecution — if there is found to be an offence — rests with the Bedfordshire Chief Constable.

Texaco admitted that this was the biggest explosion involving a road tanker to take place in this country. The company has given accommodation to local people made homeless by the crash.

Among those helping to rehouse the homeless is Texaco's own transport manager who lives in the area.

A police spokesman said that it was very difficult to say what caused the crash, but both the Road Research Laboratory and the police forensic laboratory were investigating the cause of the crash.
