A power cleaner, known as the Lightning, developed by Contractors Pumps (Tamworth) Ltd, is claimed to be particularly suitable for the preparation of commercial vehicles for the DoE annual test and engine degreasing as well as machine-tool degreasing, stone and brick restoration, cleaning walls and floors, brick restoration and so on. The machine delivers 2gal /min of hot or cold water at 500 psi, its consumption at this pressure being 120gal /hr. It has a fuel consumption of 1.6gal /hr.

Features include a reverseflow combustion chamber and a Nu-Way ZL2 pressure jet burner that provides automatic ignition and is operated by a+ hp electric motor. The pump is of the twin-piston type powered by a 1 hp motor, while a precharged accumulator is employed to damp out pulsations in the circuit.
