On Wednesday. as forecast in ::ointnercial Motor last week. eight Daimler Fleetlines were Juced in place of RTs on country bus service 424 (East aead to Reigate). Travelling on the 10.18 from Reigate to Grinstead on the first day turned out to be an interesting ience.

e bus left Reigate with a good bottom-deck load and six ngers on top. and just about 6 min, behind schedule. at very acute left-hand turns were encountered on this which kept the driver very busy and these, together with works in awkward places, caused slight further delays so Ne arrived at Station Road, East Grinstead, about 10 min. only to be turned off the bus for no apparent reason. replacement bus had been brought from East Grinstead c, but it soon became evident that there was no driver to the bus; the previous crew had gone off for a break. :vet% a very willing young conductor was waiting in vain, happened.

And the young conductor who could not find a mate to drive his substitute bus was very enthusiastic about them. The new buses were ideal, he thought_ and the drivers would soon get used to ihem,
