Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I The first independent testing biodiesel has been cornted and the results show a all improvement in fuel econy coupled to significantly er emissions.

Hull-based supplier Rix Diesel had asked scientists Millbrook test centre to cornre its products against stanre ultra low sulphur diesel. hough they have only proced preliminary findings, the Its are encouraging.

Millbrook used a standard ddon Atkinson tractor to test ee different biodiesels sold Rix. They tested a fuel made from 100% recycled food oil, a diesel containing 20% recycled oils and the one most likely to be used by hauliers, a diesel containing only 5% of recycled oils.

The most significant finding was the reduction in particulates that cause black smoke. The 20% fuel recorded an impressive 25% reduction in particulate emissions and even the 5% fuel managed a 13.8% drop.

Perhaps more importantly in marketing terms, the tests of the 5% fuel returned a small increase In fuel efficiency. Although consumption for the simulation of urban and motorway conditions was largely the same as normal diesel, the consumption for the extra urban cycle was 2.78% better.

This confirmed the views of operators who have tried the new fuel.

According to Rix's project manger Steve Moody the results confirm the company's own findings: "We reckon that we have got up to 5% better fuel efficiency in some tests and our clients tell us they get at least a 1% fuel saving—if not more," he says.
