• A group of eight regional hauliers have joined together to form a new haulage firm which they hope will rival the industry's big players.
The firm, called Jigsaw, will draw on the resources of the eight operators and will have access to 1,400 trucks and 2,000 trailers operating out of 30 depots. It anticipates an annual turnover of 5.100m.
Commercial director Paul Smith believes Jigsaw can compete with existing large-scale logistics firms and offer an effi cient service through retair low numbers of shareholdE 'lf you are a customer look for a large scale transport st tion. it is becoming increasir difficult,' he says. 'In essen Jigsaw will deliver direct to client. There are not 40-503 contractors."
The haulage camper involved are CM Downt Currie European Transpc MacFarlane Transport; Eli Transport; Pollock (Scotrar Stoford Transport; F Swain Sons and Widdowson Group.
