Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Stoneridge Electronics (formerly TVI Europe) and Siemens VDC are among the firms which will be producing the new digital tachographs. Units will fit in a standard radio-sized enclosure and have slots for two driver smartcards(for main and co-driver), a front panel display, control keys and a solid-state memory.

A digital processor will store information on driving, work and rest times, speed and additional information, depending on which systems the unit takes information from. For example, it could be set up to monitor fuel consumption. Units will probably have their own printers. As there are no moving parts, digital tachographs are likely to be more robust than their predecessors, even in the hands of the Lfost ham-fisted drivers.
