• Mercedes-Benz is cutting around 100 jobs within the next nine months, mainly from its 900-strong workforce at the head office and parts supply base in Milton Keynes.
The commercial vehicle preparation site near Barnsley will also be affected by the cuts.
The cuts, the first for M-B this year, will be made by not filling an approximate 30 vacancies, introducing an early retirement programme, and by hiving off its catering and security to contractors which will take on M-B staff.
