RTRANSPORT LTD has apnted Graham Roberts as naging director and Alan :kle as operations director as -n November 1. This results -11 the decision of Bill Collins, naging director, to take up a ;ition in the United States.

Ar Roberts has been with the tional Freight Company for years, starting as a managent trainee; he joined Carnoon as operations manager 1978. In May last year he was )ointed to the board as operais director.

Ar Buckle joined Cartransport 1956 as traffic clerk at Oxford depot and takes over the role as operations director from his current position as southern regional director.

Cartransport has also promoted Paul Daffern to the board as finance director. He was previously head of finance, Mr Daffern moved to Cartransport in January 1980 as management accountant, having worked for Lucas and Chrysler. He is a member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accounts.

John Kelly has been made group travel sales manager of the National Bus Company, with effect from November 1. He will be responsible for overseeing the development of NBC's travel sales outlets through England and WaIes. Mr Kelly was regional sales manager for British Posters since 1979, and before that he was marketing manager for National Holidays between 1977 and 1979.

Jim Chadwick, passenger transport manager with Hyndburn Borough Transport, is retiring at the end of October. He has been involved in the passenger transport industry for 45 years; between 1961 and 1964 he was manager of the former Darwen undertaking.

John Horne, formerly a product manager at Papst Motors Ltd, has been made fan • sales manager. Mr Horne is a Fellow of the Institute of Sales and Marketing and is senator and vicechairman of the Wessex branch.

Samuel Jones of S. Jones Industrial Holdings Ltd, has retired as Managing director of the company, but will remain on the board of directors as chairman, Obituary WE RECORD with regret the death of Bill Morton.

Mr Morton, 64, was East Midland area secretary of the Road Haulage Association for 30 years, and joined the RHA 37 years ago, after leaving the Royal Air Force as a Flight Lieutenant with a Distinguished Flying Cross. He served initia as licensing officer, with respo sibility for dealing with road, rE and traffic courts, and membe licence applications. Mr Mort was due to retire next year.

RHA director-general Fredc Plaskett said this week: "It is matter of great sadness that should be struck down on t eve of a well-earned retir ment."

RHA West Midland secrete Bob Ward told CM that he ft always treasured the advi which Bill Morton gave him, al added: "He was always Unc Bill to me."
