Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

to the following points? When an existing driver of heavy goods vehicles claims a licence after February 2 7970, what evidence must he produce as confirmation that he has driven such vehicles for six months in the preceding year?

Will such a driver also be expected to produce a medical certificate, or does this apply to new applicants only?

AA driver of a heavy goods vehicle will

not need an h.g.v. driving licence until his normal driving licence expires, though application should, of course, be made a little while before the expiry date.

Where a licence is claimed on the basis of experience, to avoid a test, the employer must make a signed statement on Certificate DLG 1B which forms part of the h.g.v. driving licence application form obtainable from main Post Offices or, in cases of difficulty, from an M oT Traffic Area office.

All drivers applying for an h.g.v. licence will need a medical examination because every application form includes a medical certificate that has to be signed by a doctor.

If you wish to get a better idea of what -the procedure involves we would recommend that you send for a copy of a brochure, The h.g.v. driver's licence, which costs 2s 6d including postage from the Sales Department, IPC Business Press Ltd., 161 Fleet Street, London. EC4. Advisory booklets are also obtainable free from MoT offices.
