Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Haulage contractor Stanley Fernyhough of Swythamley near Macclesfield, and a large group, of his drivers, received bail from Crewe Magistrates last week after they appeared accused of conspiring to falsify tachograph charts, to steal grain, and to make false declarations in order to obtain excise licences.

All the defendants are accused of conspiring together to make a false entry on a record sheet.

Fernyhough and five drivers, Anthony Smallwood, Philip Harrison and Anthony Weaver, of Stoke-on-Trent; Keith Cox, of Mow Cop; and Christopher Bradshaw, of Stafford, face allegations involving the theft of grain.

Fernyhough is accused of three offences of making false declarations in order to obtain vehicle excise licences.

The drivers were given unconditional bail until 31 January, when proceedings to commit the case for trial at the Crown Court will commence.

Fernyhough was given bail on condition that he resides at Hilly Lees Farm, Swythamley, and also that he did not discuss the case with any of the drivers.

The other drivers are: David Hodgkiss, Keith Symes and Paul Moody, of Stoke-onTrent; Stephen Hodgkinson, of Buxton; Ronald Berresford, of Flagg Brian Hymas and Stephen Howe, of Newcastleunder-Lyme; Kevin Casselden, of Winsford; Edward Bennett, of Bradley; Nigel Wardle, of Leek; Stephen Allen, of Cheadle; Anthony Taylor, of Mow Cop; and Kenneth Lloyd, of Sandbach.
