Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• As a major operator with a mixed vehicle fleet in excess at 300 units, we continue to use a fleet of Bedford rigid trucks in the 12/16-tonne capacity, mainly TL 1260s and 1630s.

It has been more than a little interesting to watch the remergence of Bedford under the AWD banner.

Until now, it has been an accepted fact that a manufacturer will continue to support his product for a period of approximately 10 years once the vehicle production has ceased. This does not, however, appear to be the case with Bedford trucks. General Motors have shown little apparent consideration for the poor unfortunates who supported their products to the very end.

The service information technical back-up simply ceased overnight, while the parts supply is becoming increasingly more difficult, particularly with regard to major units (gearboxes, for example).

Other operators' experiences will be of interest to readers, as will the reasons behind General Motors' stony silence and total disregard for the serious problem that they have created and apparently walked away from.
