THE GERMAN associate of Alusuisse has developed a novel process which, when applied to the floor and sides of aluminium tipping bodies, can extend the life of such equipment three to four times. The method, now test-markefed by AluminiumWalzwerke Singen GmbH, involves the application of a spray coating (I) of X40 Cr 13 steel to the normal alloy body structure. The new process enables unladen weight to be reduced as • the steel coating obviates use of wear linings. Corrosion resistance of the body is improved by a synthetic resin sealer.
