Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Happenings at the first British Association of Owner-Drivers' annual conference at the weekend gave the lie to a lot of hopes that the Association was growing up.

Factions have grown up within the BAOD which seem hell-bent on destroying the Association which a few have done so much to further for the many.

Unless someone picks up the reins of the BAOD — and does it quickly — the cause of the owner-driver will lose all the ground it has gained in the last 12 months, and more.

Rumblings within the BAOD over the past few weeks had been threatening to split the Association. Now it has happened and once again the few have ruined what began as a laudable enterprise aimed at the good of the 25,000 owner-drivers in this country.

The motives of those who aimed to break up the Association must be viewed with a certain amount of suspicion, but whatever those motives are they have done irreparable harm to the image of the owner-driver who must in many eyes immediately revert to his erstwhile "cowboy" role.
