RANSPORT Minister kTilliam Rodgers could be sked by a ministerial colleaue to consider diverting heavy -affic away from the Severn ,ridge. This may come about s a result of a exchange in the :ommons last week after uestions had been asked bout work on the bridge.
loan Evans (Labour Aberare) mentioned the effect of eavy lorries and suggested hat if, when the lanes were pen, there were to be some estriction it would be better if ome of the heavy traffic were .iverted to another route or ierhaps onto the railways.
Barry Jones (Underecretary, Wales) who said hat work on the bridge would ake about two months to omplete, was grateful to Mr vans for the suggestion. He ;ould, he said, raise it with the Transport Minister.
