• Plans for a £ lm expansion programme over the next eighteen months have been announced today by Mr Jack Stanworth, the new chairman of United Carriers Ltd.

The programme, which is already under way, is geared to increase capacity by 25 per cent and most of the money will be spent on extending the present depot network.

United Carriers' new express parcels depot at Alton near Winchester came on steam last week and is expected to be fully operational by January 1973. The new depot, on a two-acre site close to the M3, has been designed to replace the existing Winchester divisional depot at Hursley and will carry a fleet of between 30-35 vehicles when working to capacity.
