AN IGNITION COIL which gives an increased current to the sparking plugs when battery voltage is low has been introduced by Commercial Ignition Co. Ltd. Called the CI Cold Start, the coil is designed primarily to give easier starting in cold conditions when the required current is automatically supplied from a lower voltage.

Outwardly, the only difference between the CI coil and standard types is that there is an additional terminal on the tower for connection to the starter solenoid switch. A feature of the design is that when the engine is running the coil reverts to a normal primary current so saving undue wear on the contact-breaker points.

There is also a device to prevent feed back from the coil through the starter switch. Coils to replace normal types on both positive and negative earth systems are available. Made by: Commercial Ignition Co. Ltd., Newport Road, Hayes, Middx.

Price: £2 lOs (when replacing standard coil).
