Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Fuel suppliers are being hit by shortages of vehicles and parts for

them. Bryan Jarvis reports from the FPS exhibition 2007. Fuel oil distributors and tanker manufacturers at last month's Federation of Petroleum Suppliers (FPS) exhibition seemed distinctly nervous. Warmer-than-normal winters are affecting orders for new A DR tankers— and making matters worse, there's a growing scarcity of chassis cabs, an acute shortage of trailer axles, and to some extent a lack of tyres too.

Many blame the burgeoning demand in Western European transport markets, as well as in Russia and other former Soviet states; whatever the cause, the net effect is that vehicle delivery dates are sliding towards this winter and beyoncl. The very astute are ordering stock chassis and managing to complete their orders in good time, but everyone is hoping normal service will resume by early next year. FPS 2007 welcomed several fresh faces, including German manufacturer Rohr—which has appointed Watts Truck Centre, Worcester. to handle its service support business— and GRW Engineering (UK) of South Africa.

Barely a decade old, GRWE's UK office has already secured orders for RAF aircraft refuellers and more than 300 MAN-based military support vehicles on a four-year supply contract. Another client is Haartz Tanker Rental (HTR). which took on Heil's former UK rentals business 18 months ago, and has since built up a fleet of rigids and trailers, mostly supplied by Central Welding, Feldbinder, GRW,Heil, LAG and Road Tankers Northern.

Our new vehicle contracts appeal to both management and drivers," says HTR managing director Tim Heaton. At present, he offers only petrol and powder carriers but is considering the liquid waste sector too.

Also celebrating a family arrival was the Newell &Wright Group, which has acquired Leeds-based Vallely Tankers. Renowned for building high quality aluminium and stainless steel vacuum tankers, Vallely,Lakeland Tankers and Road Tankers Northern present a formidable engineering troika.

On a more cautionary note, the Environment Agency is sounding a stern warning to all AdBlue users—take the utmost care when handling supplies.

There must not be any spillage of AdBlue in or near watercourses as it will penetrate any oil or waste interceptor. If that happens, it may enter drains or streams, and quickly turn into ammonia in the water, causing immense and costly environmental damage.
