Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• '[Ni' drivers driving through print workers' picket lines while distributing News International's newspaper titles now face expulsion from the Transport and General Workers' Union.

Repeated calls from TGWU general secretary Ron Todd to observe the picket lines have met with a constant lack of response from the drivers, so Todd has stepped up the pressure.

TGWU branches and regional committees have now been told to hold inquiries into members' behaviour, where there have been complaints. If the evidence shows members have breached TGWU policy, they will face expulsion.

TGWU national haulage secretary Jack Ashwell says that the union only agreed with TNT for members to distribute News International's proposed new newspaper, The London Post — and not the existing titles.

He also stresses that the argument is only with Newsfast and not the rest of TNT.

The threatened expulsions will have "no effect" on the drivers' determination to continue their work, TNT UK general manager Alan Jones told CM.
