• As the National Bus Company continues to prepare for privatisation, Transport Secretary Nicholas Ridley has announced the streamlining of the NBC's hoard with the departure of three non-executive members and one of its executive members.
They are Jeremy Orme, non-executive deputy-chairman, Ronald Grierson and Ian Irwin, both non-executive members, and Brian Granger, an executive member.
Irwin is presently deputy chairman and managing director of the Scottish Transport Group, which is remaining State-owned.
The streamling follows last month's appointment of Rodney Lund as chairman of the NBC. He is to be responsible for disposing of the subsidiaries and as quickly as possible.
Ridley has thanked the four members for their contribution in preparing the NBC for privatisation and the deregulation of the bus industry in October.
Orme is a chartered accoun tant and became a managing partner in 1983 of Robson Rhodes. From 1979 until 1981 he was seconded to the Department of Transport.
Granger is also a chartered accountant and for 11 years until 1981 was director of finance at the Milk Marketing Board. Since then he has been running his own corporate financial consultancy practice, and continued to devote 20% of his time to this during his membership of the NBC board.
Grierson is a director of GEC. S G Warburg and Company, the Chrysler Corporation and other companies.
