• Mercury small consignments service, launched by Bolton-based Parkers Transport in January this year, is to be transferred to another Transport Development Group subsidiary, Harris Road Services, of Manchester.
Bob Green, Harris's managing director says Mercury will be developed and extended to provide a national service, transporting packages weighing between 100kg and 9,000kg. Forty vehicles, mostly four-wheel flatbed trucks, be used for Mercury. The will operate from four dep in Manchester, Leicester, Hatfield and West Bromwi Green says there are pi to open other depots arou the country, and he hopes appoint a telesales manager.
Mercury will form a sot sidiary within Harris Road vices, which operates 250 vehicles and 350 trailers.
