Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A N anti-rattle latch developed by R. A.

Neaverson Ltd., Abbey Lane, Leicester, for vehicle drop sides is fully self-compensating for wear. Suitable for mounting on the side pillars and corner posts, the latches are of arcuate form and engage segments of similar shape attached to the body sides.

A slot in the latch lines up with a small peg in the segment when in the locked position. This is to stop the latch opening when not fully home as the pivot centre of the latch is above the centre line of the contact arcs and this means that the latch arm tends to tighten on the segment as vibration and its own weight move it downwards.
