ROBERT WISEMAN Dairies has confirmed that 50 drivers will be affected by the closure of two of its sites.
The company will shut its distribution depot at Cupar in Fife in April and switch transport operations to facilities in Whitburn, West Lothian and Aberdeen.
It will also close its dairy in Okehampton, Devon, and transfer most of the production to a processing plant in Bridgwater, Somerset.
Mark McDiarmid, spokesman for Robert Wiseman, says there are no plans to sell any vehicles and no tanker drivers will be affected.
He adds: “We do hope some staff will consider taking up positions available elsewhere in our network of dairy and distribution facilities” John Gorle, national officer at trade union Usdaw, says the news has come as a shock to his members.
