This is a topical subject, which is far too complex to discuss in detail here. A topline explanation is that there are basically two types of remote downloading processes currently available: ● The first is remote downloading with ‘remote authentication of a company card’ – currently this type of downloading is only available from the latest VDO digital tachograph.
● The second is via a number of external devices that can transmit data remotely, but first the data needs to be downloaded the traditional way by inserting a company card in the tachograph.
