Mr Smith stressed that there was lmost complete unanimity between mployers and the union about the effects of hie licensing proposals. A redundancy agreement for platform staffs should be negotiated with Scottish Bus Group to incorporate voluntary redundancy. severance pay, special consideration for members over retiral age.
A working party should be set up with Scottish Bus Group to examine anomalies in one-man operation.
An employee working his rest day should receive a minimum guarantee of no less than 7 hours 36 minutes.
The sickness payment scheme should be revised.
Consideration should be given to reducing the general retirement age from 65 to 60.
Payment for the medical certificate necessary for drivers over 50 years of age should be met by the industry or the Department of Health and Social Security. The union should have some control of the size, structure and capacity of vehicles operating within city boundaries.
