• One of the largest bids ever made in the transport industry — £37.8m by Jessel Securities for William Cory (CM March 10) — has been topped this week by Court Lines' £40m offer.
• Container traffic from Greenock ht increased so much that double-shift working being introduced and the number of employe( doubled. Transfer of Seatrain Lines Inc t Greenock is one reason for this activity; oth( operators are expected to follow this transfer an to do all their North Atlantic crossings from tt Clyde. A £1.3m extension to the terminal W come into use soon and allow two contain( ships to load at the same time.
