LONDON reception this week marked the introduction in Britain of the full Towmotor range of fork lift trucks and straddle carriers. Towmotor Corporation, a major US manufacturer of materials handling equipment, merged with Caterpillar Tractor Co. in November 1965. Towmotor products are manufactured under licence by Brodrene Vestergaard, of Copenhagen and two dealers have been appointed to supply and service the Towmotor range in
England and Wales—Bowmaker (Plant) Ltd. and H. Leverton and Co. Ltd.
The range covers fork lift trucks with capacities from 2,000 lb. at 15 in. load centre to 60,000 lb. at 48 in. load centre. The straddle carriers range from 12,000 to 60,000 lb. load capacity and there are models for handling containers up to 60,000 lb. and transporting them at road speeds between or inside freight terminals.
