Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DEMONSTRATED last week by Wadhams (Coachbuilders) Ltd. of Waterlooville, Hants, was a safety device for use on electrohydraulically operated tail lifts to prevent an operator getting a foot jammed when raising the lift.

The safety device consists of a transverse bar suspended under the skirt rail at the rear of the vehicle, and is held in contact with two microswitches by means of light coil springs plus gravity. Both switches have to be in contact with the bar, otherwise the circuit is broken.

A CM staff member operated the lift with his foot overlapping the inside edge of the lifting platform and as soon as his shoe came into contact with the bar and raised it slightly the lift stopped. This is a very good contribution towards drivers' safety.
