Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

between haulage and C-licence operation and is there any marked difference in the removal industry?

A Dealing first with public haulage, 85 per cent of all operators have five vehicles or less and account for 39,130 operators out of a total of 46,280.

Unfortunately. no directly comparable figures are available in respect of C-licence vehicles because those which are available relate to vehicles exceeding three tons unladen weight. But with this qualification, 91 per cent of all C-licence operators have five vehicles or less and constitute 51,170 operators out of a total of 56,340.

No official statistics issued by the Ministry of Transport are available concerning the removal industry as such, although the overall figure for haulage operators would include vehicles operating on removals. However, a recent analysis of the membership of the National Association of Furniture Warehousemen and Removers reveals that 71 per cent of the membership own four vehicles or less while those owning 10 vehicles or more represent only seven per cent.
