ASUM of £500,000 was paid for

James Sutherland (Peterhead), Ltd., which, as reported in last week's issue, has been acquired by the British Transport Commission. The company has workshop facilities reported to be among the finest in Scotland, catering for 82 buses and 96 goods vehicles. Further vehicles will be serviced there as the company's depot has become the headquarters of •a new group of the B.T.C.

This group will be managed by Mr. G. C. Wilson, at present the manager of the company. Vehicles of two Frazerburgh firms, Messrs. W. French and Sons and Messrs. James Gibbs and Sons, which were acquired last year, will be transferred to the group. Sutherland's existing staff. has been divided between both passenger and goods sides. The company's car-hire business remains in private hands.

BIG ORDER FOR FIRE EQUIPMENT?

TENTATIVE inquiries are being made by Tehran Municipality, Persia, for a large quantity of fire fighting equipment. This includes three fire-engines, 33 tankers, a fire escape, a breakdown lorry, four motor pumps, eight lorries, four special vehicles, two ambulances and three bulldozers.
