" The Sydney Aforning Herald " of the 28th January last makes extracts from this journal, anent the satisfaction which motor fire-engines have given to the London County Council.

About Engine Capacity.

The recent fire-engine tests at Glasgow, which took place on the 14th ult., give rise to further correspondence (page 37). Additional tests were made, on the 8th inst., with Glasgow engines, at Kilmarnock, but we have not been advised of any comparative results. Some comparisons of the cylinder' capacities and power of two of the engines used are given on the page named. Harrogate's Position.

This month's meeting of the Harrogate Town Couneil will be asked to confirm the resolution of the Fire-Brigade and General-Purposes Committee, anent the purchase of a motor fire-engine.

County Fire Brigades.

In the summer of 1908, and months before any other journal had thought of the matter, THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR strongly advocated the establishment of county fire brigades. The latest move in this direction comes from the Renfrew County Council, which body, at a meeting held ill Paisley on the 10th inst., decided to proceed further with matters affecting the contemplated establishment of a fire brigade for the County of Renfrew. The county will be divided into three areas, and each will have its motor equipment, whilst the i-innual expenditure is estimated not to exceed £1,413. This is a step in the right direction, and is deserving of encoeragement.

Lincoln's Decision.

The Lincoln City Council, at its meeting on the 8th inst., had before it the report of the deputation which recently visited Sheffield, Leicester, Bradford and Manchester. The Council was recommended to purchase. a Dennis first-aid and turbine pump machine, and a second machine, also fitted with a motor pump, of greater power than the Dennis equipment. which is owned by Bradford. Tenders are to be invited in respect of the second purchase.
