In the section for modern service buses, a 1953 Bristol KSW open-top double decker, prepared to a high standard by the staff of Eastern National's Southend garage and in daily use on Southend's seafront took the award.

Runner up was a Leyland Leopard Willowbrook service saloon operated by Essex indpendent operator Hedingham and District Omnibuses.

A 1965 Eastern National Bristol FLF double decker and a 1971 Southend Transport Daimler Fleetline were also well prepared vehicles and were indicative of the pride of the maintenance staff.
