Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ARANGE of semi-trailers introduced by Crane Fruehauf Trailers Ltd. is designed to accommodate 20 ft.-, 30 ft.and 40 ft.-long containers built to the American ASA standards and containers to the International Standards Organization requirements when fitted with ASA corner castings.

The new models are named Con-Leader and in effect are lightweight versions of Crane Fruehauf DB tipper chassis on tandem-axle running gear. They are designed for operation at the maximum permissible loads under the latest C. and U. Regulations and a three-axle version on single tyres is available to run at 32 tons gross train weight with two-axle tractive units.

Because the chassis do not have platforms—the containers rest on the frame and are located by special locking "pyramids" at the four corners—weight has been kept to a minimum and it is claimed that a 30 ft.-long example weighs only 2 tons 17 cwt. The unladen weight of a semitrailer and 30 ft. container together is said to be 4 tons 16 cwt., giving a payload advantage of 18.5 cwt. over a flatplatform semi-trailer carrying the same container.

The main frame members are 15 in.deep fabricated I beams with full-width front and rear box-section cross-bearers and there are four full-depth, pressed-steel channel cross-members.
