YOUNGSTERS riding on Derby Corporation

buses who do not offer their seats to adults will in future be reminded of their manners by the conductor. Derby town council have decided.

This now becomes a condition of the sale of a ticket on Derby Corporation buses.

Reduced Services for East Midlands?: East Midlands Motor Services Ltd., who operate buses in Derbys, Notts and South Yorks, are applying to withdraw a number of services, to alter operating times and to introduce additional journeys. A spokesman for the Chesterfield-based company said: "The services. we want to withdraw are not being patronized enough to make them economic. We are constantly reviewing services and we would not be doing our duty to the public if we continued to run uneconomic services resulting in unnecessarily high costs."

New Image?: The general manager of West Bridgford, Notts., passenger transport department, Mr. H. J. Maiden. believes that the council's buses could do with a new image. New colours in place of the traditional brown and cream would help to further public transport and create a better image in the public mind. The council has appointed a sub committee to consider this, with power to seek the advice of colour consultants.

Bonus for Middlesbrough Crews: Middlesbrough Corporation transport committee has decided to introduce a bonus scheme on June 6 for drivers and conductors. It will be awarded fully to those who have completed their allocated duties during a specified period.
