A, Perth on Tuesday, the Scottish deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. L. A. Wells, revoked the licences of the four vehicles run by Mr. W. W. Cook, of Brechin. The hearing was undefended.
The deputy LA said that the history of bad maintenance went back to February, 1965, when a full fleet inspection was carried out and 16 of the 19 vehicles then run were issued with GV9s-10 of them immediate.
Before action could be taken, however, Mr. Cook formed a limited company on a large part of his fleet and the share capital was taken over by a reputable haulage firm. In these circumstances action was withheld.
Since then there had been no improvement and a further examination of Mr. Cook's fleet (then five) took place and four of the vehicles were found to be in poor condition. Mr. Cook had since got rid of another vehicle, said Mr. Wells, who felt it was his duty now to revoke all the licences.
