THE Worshipful Company of Carmen's Viva Shield (awarded annually for the most notable contribution to the advancement of road transport) is this year to be presented to Col. Frank Bustard, founder of Atlantic Steam Navigation Co. Ltd., in recognition of the contribution he has made to the development of roll-on/roll-off facilities for road vehicles.
CoL Bustard was a pioneer in this type of service, starting between Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and then founding the Atlantic Steam ferry routes from Tilbury.
