MHE Blackpool -Carnival, which

opened at the beginning of last week and continues until Saturday next, has proved to be a unique attraction for motor-coach .parties from all parts of Lancashire. The arrangements made by the police for the regulation of traffic are even more comprehensive than last year, and all mOtor vehicles from outside towns are only being permitted to enter Blackpool by certain scheduled routes. For instance, traffic approaching from Preston is diverted to Waterloo Road and Ninitegate Drive. Motor coaches are limited to six approaches for reaching their destination. . The local motor-coach owners made full arrangements for participating in the carnival, such as by the hiring of coaches for tableaux, the use of coaches as stands from which to view the processions and for short local runs.

There was a great invasion of Black

pool by motor coaches on Whit-Monday. During the day the motor station . in Marshall Street received no fewer than 150 coaches—about the same number as last year--and scene -of the vehicles journeyed great distances, a big proportion coming from Yorkshire towns.

The motor-coach service between

Blackpool and Birmingham has now been inaugurated, and a coach. leavss Blackpool every Saturday for the Midland city. The through fare is 12s 6d. single. Facilities exist whereby passengers can book to Wigan, Warrington, Knutsford and intermediate places.

In connection with the Blackpool Car. rival the Lancashire United Tramways, _Ltd., had twc of their Dennis saloon buses specially decorated to tour the districts of South-West Lancashire.
