Two boys aged 14 and 15 have been charged with criminal damage. Both have been released on bail until late July.

Company director Jonathan Smith tells CM the cost of the damage will amount to £116,000.

Five trucks were attacked, even though the compound was fitted with light sensors. Smith adds the firm has also been victim to fuel siphoning. "We've been broken into several times. You can only do so much when people are going on the rampage."

• Fuel worth £12,000 has been stolen from a family owned haulage firm in Castleford.

In the space of just four days, thieves twice attacked lorries at Howley 's Transport.

Hub manager Liz Howley says the thieves bent the steel fence around the yard, drilled holes in the tanks and overrode some antisiphon devices. "Before 2008, there was never anythings like this," she says. Since the attack, £4,000 has been spent improving security.
