RAY MURPHY has been made general manager of the associated Whittle International Movers and Brewer and Turnbull companies, both of which are part of the Whittle International Group of freight, warehousing, and distribution companies. Mr Murphy joined the companies in March 1980 as sales and marketing manager of the removals services, and his new post gives him general management responsibilities for those activities.

Aberdeen-based James Paterson Transport has made CHRISTOPHER THOMSON a director, with responsibilty for marketing all of the company's services, especially its distribution operations carrying consumer goods. Mr Billingham, who takes on his new responsibilities on August 1, graduated from Newcastle Plytechnic in 1975, and joined Northern Gendral as a National Bus Company management trainee. He has also worked with Ribble and West Yorkshire Road Car. Mr Clarkson is now manager of Midland Red (Express).

Also at National Bus, JOHN CURREY has succeeded GRAEME _BUTCHER as assistant secretary with Eastern Counties. He joins the company from Times Newspapers, where he has been since 1978, latterly as financial accountant. Mr Butcher, who is retiring, joined Eastern Counties in 1950 as internal auditor. H has held his present positio since 1962.

Obituaries We record with regret the death; of DAVID KENNING, BRIAN KINSLEY, and ROBERT OWEN.

Mr Kenning was chairman ant managing director of the Ken, ning Motor Group. He became director of Kenning's in 1950, a joint managing director in 1956, and chairman and managing director in 1981.

Mr Kinsley, who was 51 and was found dead in his car, was a haulage contractor at The Scores, St Andrews, in Fife.

Mr Owen, who was 60, was manager of King's Lynn docks for the last six years. He began his career with the London and North Easter Railway in 1939, and served at Hull and Lowestoft docks before becoming manager at the latter in 1962.
